Diabetes Sucks!!!
I don't like it! I don't want it! But I've got it! And once you have it, you always have it. But I can do something about it and that is what this blog is about. My journey to better health and wellness. Yes, for the rest of my life!!!

I left at 6:45 pm as I was lost in googleland!!! But, the temp was 78 degrees and there was a great wind blowing. The humidity was the lowest it has been for my walks since early spring. However, I was drenched upon returning! Man, I can drop 5 lbs just in sweat. I'm glad I always bring water.
.
I hope this is a new trend for the rest of the year. My key to picking up the mileage and hitting my 1,000 walks for the year!

I forgot to score my walk/run for yesterday. It's raining right now at 3:30 so I don't know if I will be able to get any mileage in but if so, I will add it in. And, yes, I am at an all time low of 151.5 lbs. in my 40's...since 2000. I am very excited that my plateau has "released" me from where I seemed to be stuck at. Now, another 10 lbs. and I will be in the very healthy range of weight for my height. And with a FBS of 93...my dr will be very pleased this Wed. Ah...life is good. I am trying to be good to life!

2 Miles...YESSS!!!

Whittling away two at a time. It was overcast until 3/4 way home. But, with the sun behind me after 6 pm, it was doable without overheating. I think I am tolerating more anyway. Plus, the inhaler is working longer. This humidity is killer, though1 YUCK!!!

Hotter than Hades

So, I went to PF by myself for a quick upper body workout and did a mile in 10:30 on the elyptical (which I added to the count) and decided that I had to do my 5 mile walk/run. I figured I would go while the cloud was over the sun, thinking it might pile up and start an afternoon shower. By the time I got out there, the sun was back out but with many clouds looming around. At the 1 mile mark, where I usually run from mile 1 to mile 2, a cloud just happened to overtake the sun and it appeared to be long enough for my first running mile. As it turned out, it was exactly that. As I was approaching mile 2, where I resume walking, the sun peeked out and stayed out. So, on my return when it was mile 3, I decided not to chance it and run in the sun as it was about 92 degrees! At mile 4, another cloud overtook the sun and I was in business. Only, this time, I was pretty worn out even just walking in the heat. I ran until the sun came out once again, about 1/2 mile of running and finished the 5 miles in a respectable 1:13:40. I already had 2 glasses of Gatorade and I will do some stretches and shower.

Amazing...

Yes, at 11:45 am I went out with my water bottle and a bite of granola bar and did the walk/run/3/2. I just returned at 12:58 and even though I am drenched in sweat, I feel soo good! Yes, that's "soo" with 2 "o's". Rhymes with "hoe". *evil grin*
.
I can definitely feel the power when it's there. What is there? The 3 D's...Determination, Dedication and Dominance of attitude. I have to will myself to be the best I can be sometimes. But, it can still be done. The distance can be run so-to-speak. And I also have learned more of my limitations. I'm not 20 anymore. Or even 30. But, in my better moments, I can do more and push myself more to go the distance. Now, that's attitude. That's amazing!
